Professional
Associations

I am a member of the State Bar
of California and the Contra
Costa County Bar Association.

I am admitted to practice before
the United States District Court
of Northern California and
before the 9th Circuit Court of
Appeals.

My Background

My first exposure to the benefits of estate planning came as a result of a personal and
unexpected loss. The estate plan my parents had prepared helped my family navigate
through that painful and difficult time. Realizing the benefits that proper estate planning
can provide, I founded The O’Toole Law Firm with the aim to help families maintain
stability, security, and peace of mind.

The principle reason that I chose to focus on estate planning is that I enjoy helping
individuals and families prepare for life’s inevitable realities. Listening to my clients’ hopes,
fears, and concerns and tailoring estate plan to provide peace of mind has been - and will
continue to be - something that is both professionally and personally rewarding to me.

Prior to law school, I volunteered for the Peace Corps. I was stationed in The Gambia,
West Africa, as a Health Volunteer. I learned to speak the native language, Mandinka, and
provided technical trainings to local hospitals on how to maintain refrigeration, sanitization,
and incubation equipment. This experience taught me how to explain difficult and technical
concepts in a way that is understandable and comprehensible to others - an essential skill
for any estate planning practitioner.

Ties To The Bay Area

I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area and attended Bancroft
Elementary, Foothill Middle, and Northgate High School. I am married
to Abbie O’Toole, and we currently reside in Walnut Creek. We met
while serving as Peace Corps Volunteers in The Gambia.
